About Bust of Radoje Domanović

The Bust of Radoje Domanović is the 1973 memorial sculpture in Kalemegdan Park at Belgrade Fortress. The fortress operator identifies Nebojša Mitrić as the sculptor and places the work in the Kalemegdan Park section of its official visitor map. This distinguishes it from ticketed interiors in the Upper and Lower Town and from the other writers’ and public figures’ busts distributed through the park.

Radoje Domanović (1873–1908) was a Serbian writer, short-story author and satirist. The official monument page highlights four of his satires: Danga, Dead Sea, Stradija and Thinking of an Ordinary Serbian Ox. It describes their examination of human relationships as extending beyond a single time or place. The bust is therefore best understood as a literary memorial rather than a portrait of a military or political figure.

Use the Belgrade Fortress interactive map to identify the monument within Kalemegdan Park. It is an outdoor artwork without a staffed entrance, exhibition room or separate ticket desk. The fortress visitor page publishes working hours and prices for managed attractions such as the Roman Well, Nebojša Tower and the Big Gunpowder Warehouse, but it does not publish a seven-day schedule or admission price for this bust. Those attraction hours must not be copied to the memorial. A previously stored 24-hour schedule had no monument-specific official source and should not be used. Check current park notices and any temporary route restrictions before visiting, and prefer daylight if reading the bust or photographing it is important. The operator’s monument page and interactive map are the authoritative references for identity and location.
