About Kenyatta International Convention Centre

The Kenyatta International Convention Centre is Nairobi's cylindrical landmark and Kenya's state-owned national convention venue. Norwegian architect Karl Henrik Nøstvik designed the complex in 1967, and President Jomo Kenyatta opened it on 11 September 1973. The tower, podium and plenary building were created for conferences, exhibitions and official events rather than as a conventional museum. Visitors chiefly encounter KICC as working civic architecture, an event venue and a high viewpoint from its helipad.
