Old Tbilisi occupies the compact area below Narikala, including Abanotubani, Metekhi and streets near Freedom Square. Rustaveli Avenue runs northwest through the modern centre. Across the river, Aghmashenebeli Avenue and Marjanishvili create a second walkable cluster.
