Yas Marina Circuit is a motorsport race track located on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. It was designed by Hermann Tilke and opened in 2009. The circuit hosts the annual Formula 1 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, among other racing events. The track features a distinctive layout that passes beneath the Yas Viceroy Abu Dhabi hotel, now known as W Abu Dhabi. The facility serves as a year-round venue for motorsport activities, driving experiences, and corporate events beyond its flagship Grand Prix weekend. Its illuminated hotel bridge, marina setting and twilight race schedule make the circuit recognisable even outside Grand Prix week. Public access is organised through specific products rather than an unrestricted attraction entrance.

What's inside

The circuit complex combines the Formula 1 track, pit lane, team garages, grandstands, hospitality buildings and the illuminated W Abu Dhabi hotel spanning part of the course. A Venue Tour can visit Yas Central, North Grandstand, the drag centre, F1 team villas, podium, parc ferme and Race Control, with individual stops and a circuit lap subject to live operations. Separate public products include karting, driving and passenger experiences, track days and community fitness sessions. Food outlets, merchandise points, toilets and parking operate around the complex, although which facilities open depends on the booked activity or event.

How long to spend

A standard driving experience session or circuit tour typically requires several hours including briefing and track time. Formula 1 Grand Prix attendance spans three to four days for practice, qualifying, and race sessions. Non-event visits depend on booked activities, ranging from brief track tours to extended driving programmes. Visitors should allow additional time for transport to Yas Island from central Abu Dhabi, approximately 30 minutes by road. The scale of the facility necessitates walking between zones, particularly during major events with distributed spectator areas. The official Venue Tour itself lasts about two hours. Arrive early enough to complete check-in at Yas Central, because late arrival can shorten a fixed departure rather than shift the whole group.

Season and crowds

Yas Marina Circuit’s published venue reception hours are 09:00 to 23:00 daily, but public access depends on a booked tour, driving experience, community session or event. The approximately two-hour Venue Tour operates weekly only on selectable dates. Formula 1 preparation, private bookings and track activity can change its route, so the booked product and arrival instructions determine the usable visit time. For an ordinary visit, choose the date from the operator's live activity calendar first and treat 09:00-23:00 as reception hours, not a promise that the paddock or track is open for wandering.

Tickets

There is no general sightseeing gate ticket. Visitor access comes through a booked Venue Tour, driving or passenger experience, karting session, community programme or event. Public Venue Tour prices appear for the selected date during booking and children aged 12 and under join free. A private VIP Venue Tour costs AED 1,000 per group of up to four people. Children aged 12 and under join the public Venue Tour free, while the private VIP tour is priced per group. Formula 1, karting and driving products use entirely separate tickets and conditions.

Getting there

Yas Central is the meeting point for Venue Tours. Yas Express runs as a free island shuttle daily from 09:00 to 21:00. Public bus 190 travels from Abu Dhabi Bus Station beside Al Wahda Mall to Yas Island. The circuit is about 10 minutes by taxi from Zayed International Airport, and on-site parking serves booked visitors and event ticket holders. Yas Central, not a grandstand gate or the W hotel lobby, is the practical navigation point for tours. Major-event traffic plans can replace normal parking approaches, so use the gate printed on the event ticket.

What to watch out for

Unbooked access to operational track areas is not offered. Tour stops, circuit laps and behind-the-scenes areas can change with live operations, and driving products impose separate licence, age, clothing, health and safety requirements. Wheelchair and limited-mobility event seating can be arranged through the booking hotline. A tour’s vehicle and exact route must suit the guest’s mobility needs before payment. Closed shoes and clothing suitable for the booked activity are essential. A spectator ticket never authorises pit-lane access, and a driving booking may require an original licence plus compliance with height, weight and health limits.

Photography

Personal photography is normally possible during public tour stops when the guide permits it, but Race Control, garages, team areas and active operations can impose restrictions. Guests must remain with the tour and keep clear of track activity. Tripods, lighting, drones and commercial shoots require permission. Formula 1 events and private bookings apply their own credential and camera-equipment rules. The podium, North Grandstand and hotel-framed track views are the strongest tour compositions. During active sessions, photograph only from the guide's stopping point and never cross barriers for an unobstructed angle.
