Saadiyat Public Beach

Kai Beach is the current operating name of the former Saadiyat Public Beach on Saadiyat Island. It is a managed, paid beach rather than an unrestricted strip of coast, pairing Saadiyat's pale sand and open Gulf water with loungers, umbrellas, changing facilities and food service. The beach sits within the island's resort and cultural district but has its own reception, rules and admission price. Visitors using the older Saadiyat Public Beach name should navigate to Kai Beach to reach the active entrance and avoid confusing it with nearby hotel beach clubs.

The former Saadiyat Public Beach now operates as Kai Beach. The paid beach provides wooden access walkways, sun loungers and shade, changing rooms, restrooms, showers, food-truck and beverage service, and free visitor parking. Private cabanas cost extra. Reception and the constructed facilities can be approached without steps, but the final beach surface is loose sand and no beach wheelchair or step-free water entry is advertised. Standard admission uses the shared beach layout on a first-come basis. Private cabanas are the reservable premium choice, while ordinary loungers and umbrellas cannot be held in advance for a later arrival.

Plan two to four hours for swimming, a lounger break, showering and a meal or drink, or reserve most of the day if the beach is the main activity. Opening at 07:00 rewards early arrivals with cooler sand and the broadest choice of standard loungers. Because closing follows sunset, the usable day changes through the year rather than ending at one fixed evening time. A short cultural-district visit can be paired with Kai Beach, but allow time to change clothes and travel between the beachfront and Saadiyat museums instead of treating them as one walkable complex.

Kai Beach opens daily at 07:00 and closes at sunset. Morning provides cooler sand, lighter crowds and a longer choice of loungers, while late afternoon suits a shorter visit before closing. Entry, standard loungers and umbrellas work on a first-come, first-served basis. Friday ladies-only programming can alter ordinary family access, and weekend or public-holiday pricing is higher than the weekday rate. Sea conditions and lifeguard instructions determine whether swimming is available even when the beach itself is open. For the lowest adult price, use a non-holiday weekday and arrive soon after opening.

Adult admission costs AED 150 Monday to Friday and includes AED 50 food-and-beverage credit. Saturday, Sunday and public-holiday admission costs AED 225 and includes AED 100 credit. Children aged five and under enter free. Standard places, loungers and umbrellas cannot be reserved and remain first-come, first-served; separately priced private cabanas provide the reservable premium option. The included credit is AED 50 on weekdays and AED 100 on weekends and public holidays. Use it at participating beach food-and-beverage outlets during the same visit; it does not reduce the entry payment.

Kai Beach is on Saadiyat Island, about 15 minutes by car or taxi from central Abu Dhabi and around 25 minutes from Zayed International Airport. Public buses also serve Saadiyat, and the beach provides free visitor parking. Navigation should use the current Kai Beach name rather than the former Saadiyat Public Beach name to reach the operating entrance. Ask the driver for Kai Beach reception on Saadiyat Island, not simply Saadiyat Beach, because nearby resorts control separate private entrances. Free parking is attached to the operating beach entrance.

The final route to the shoreline crosses loose sand, so the beach is only partially step-free despite the wooden walkways and accessible reception area. No beach wheelchair or step-free water entry is advertised. Outside food and drink are prohibited. Visitors under 18 need a parent or guardian, Friday programming can change access, and standard places cannot be reserved before arrival. Published Friday ladies-only programming changes ordinary family eligibility and should determine the visit date. Bring identification where age or programme rules apply, and do not rely on an early payment to reserve an ordinary lounger.

Personal photography is appropriate on the beach when it respects the privacy of other guests and avoids changing areas. Sunrise and late-afternoon light suit the open shoreline, while midday glare is strong. Tripods, lighting and commercial shoots need operator permission and must not obstruct wooden walkways or loungers. Drone use remains subject to Abu Dhabi aviation and local beach restrictions. Keep cameras away from families who have not consented and never photograph inside changing facilities. The clean horizon suits wide compositions, while a longer lens can isolate seabirds without approaching resting wildlife.
