Al Wathba Fossil Dunes Reserve is a protected natural-heritage area in Abu Dhabi Emirate, recognized for its fossilized sand dunes formed over millennia. There is currently no visit duration because the protected area is closed to the public. When it operated, the principal lit trail extended about three kilometres in each direction, so a complete out-and-back walk required more time than a quick roadside photograph. Photography is unavailable while the reserve is closed; the restriction includes sunrise, sunset and night visits. After reopening, the low side-light around golden hour will reveal the ridges and cavities of the cemented dunes more clearly than flat midday light. Remain on the designated trail and use distance rather than climbing to change perspective, because the formations are brittle. Drones, commercial crews and lighting equipment require the permissions stated for the reopened protected area. The amphitheatre, viewing area and marked trail should provide lawful viewpoints once EAD restores public access.
