Stratonicea is an open-air archaeological site in Eskihisar Mahallesi, within Muğla’s Yatağan district. It stands beside the Yatağan–Milas road, approximately 7 kilometres west of Yatağan. This broad historical settlement brings ancient civic buildings, religious monuments and Ottoman structures into one landscape. Stratonikeia Ancient City entered UNESCO’s World Heritage Tentative List in 2015. The site suits visitors interested in seeing continuity, reuse and changing urban life across different periods. Season and crowds

From 1 April through 31 December, Stratonicea is open daily from 08:30 to 20:00, and the ticket office closes at 19:30. From 1 January through 31 March, daily opening is 08:30 to 18:30, with the ticket office closing at 17:00. On the first day of religious holidays, the site remains closed until 13:00. These seasonal differences matter because Stratonicea is an exposed outdoor archaeological area, while the winter ticket deadline is substantially earlier. Morning is practical for a longer walk, especially in hotter months. Arrive before the ticket-office deadline, not merely before final closing, and allow time to walk between the main remains.

Tickets

The published admission summary lists 200 TL for an adult citizen of the Republic of Türkiye and €3 for an adult foreign visitor. Citizens of Türkiye may enter with Müzekart. Getting there

Stratonicea is located in Eskihisar Mahallesi beside the Yatağan–Milas highway. From the highway, take the turn towards Eskihisar and continue for approximately 1 kilometre to reach the archaeological site. The site is about 7 kilometres west of Yatağan. The Muğla Provincial Directorate of Culture and Tourism states that public transport is available in the area, so the official description does not limit access to private cars. Official records also identify parking, useful for visitors arriving by road or combining Stratonicea with other archaeological destinations in Yatağan. Treat the Eskihisar turn as the key approach point and allow a short final drive from the highway.
