About Casa Gorordo

Casa Gorordo is a house museum in Cebu's historic Parian district and a National Historical Landmark. The house was built in the 1850s, acquired by merchant Isidro Gorordo and occupied by four generations of his family, including Juan Gorordo, the first Filipino bishop of Cebu. Ramon Aboitiz Foundation acquired the property in 1979, restored it and opened the museum in 1983. Its balay nga tisa form combines native, Spanish and Chinese architectural influences, making the building evidence of the mestizo society that shaped Cebu's commercial and domestic life.
