The São Paulo Museum of Art, usually called MASP, is a private not-for-profit museum founded in 1947 by Assis Chateaubriand. Its first director was the Italian critic and dealer Pietro Maria Bardi, while architect Lina Bo Bardi shaped both its building and its influential display philosophy. MASP moved from central São Paulo to Avenida Paulista in 1968.
