The operator says the restaurant accommodates about 90 guests and describes walls filled with drawings, paintings and cartoons connected with its theatrical and literary past. Seasonal game or a specific menu item must be checked on the live menu rather than inferred from the restaurant's general speciality.

Rules has no general admission ticket; visitors reserve a table and pay for food and drinks ordered. The live menu checked on 8 September 2026 listed steak and kidney pie at £26.25, steak and kidney pudding at £26.25 or £27.95 with oyster, and roast rib of beef for two at £55 per person.
