İzmir Ethnography Museum occupies a historic three-storey building in Konak, on Halil Rıfat Paşa Caddesi beside the Varyant route. It was transferred to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism on 2 December 1984, then restored between 1985 and 1987 and arranged as an ethnography museum.
